A song about Crocodile Jim, a character I made when I was 10, and how he's affected my life.
lyrics
Hello, my name is Marty,
and maybe you have seen
my username on Tumblr
is crocojim18.
Today is day 500,
I'll go out on a limb.
I'll tell you all the story
about Crocodile Jim.
Now little Jimmy was a cub,
crocodile kind,
raised with maybe too much love
to saturate his mind.
And while the other crocolets
were learning how to swim,
and eating too much chocolate,
where was little Jim?
Why, he was with the people.
They'd dance and they would sing.
They thought of him as equal,
they taught him everything.
He'd wear a little strawmade hat:
the good life, he'd defined.
But the only place that he was real
was in my little mind.
My 10-year-old-self-mind.
I really loved my poetry,
whole days that I'd devote.
And on this one occasion,
this is what I wrote.
Crocodile Jim
will see you swim
out there in the water.
You'll be caught by him
Crocodile Jim,
caught just like an otter.
With a snap of his jaws
you will be gone
disappear for a while.
But it's pretty sad
that you've been caught
By a hungry crocodile.
Everyday I make a thing
that sometimes you might see.
And you might not think much of it,
and I'd prob'ly agree.
But somewhere out there far ago,
nine years ago maybe,
a ten year old is smiling.
I'm proud to call him me.
I love this album for many reasons, including: the instrumentation, the lyrics, the inventiveness, the way each song is like its own little episode. Bipole Moment
